Barcelona vs Atlético Madrid Opens the 2027 Super Cup in Istanbul
Barcelona and Atlético Madrid open the 2027 Spanish Super Cup on Tuesday 2 February with the first of two semi-finals in Istanbul. The match is at Chobani Stadium, Fenerbahçe's ground in Kadıköy on the Asian side of the city, and kicks off at 22:00 local time, 20:00 in Spain. Barça come in as holders, while Atlético qualified as Copa del Rey runners-up. The winner goes through to the final at Rams Park on Saturday 6 February to face Real Sociedad or Real Madrid.
This pairing has a long Super Cup history. In 1985, when the trophy was still decided over two legs, Atlético won 3–1 at the Vicente Calderón and held on at the Camp Nou to lift it for the first time, 3–2 on aggregate. Barcelona got their own back in 2013, taking the trophy on away goals after a 1–1 draw in Madrid and a goalless return leg. The 2020 semi-final in Jeddah, the first edition with four clubs, went Atlético's way: Barça led 2–1 through Messi and Griezmann before Morata scored a penalty and Ángel Correa won it with four minutes left.
Barcelona won the 2025 and 2026 editions, beating Real Madrid in both finals, and a third straight title is the target. For Atlético, this is a shot at a third Super Cup and a chance to end that run in the opening match of the week. Kick-off is late and the tie is settled on the night, so plan the evening around it: Barcelona vs Atlético Madrid tickets.
